Sr. Buyer/Planner

Reports to: Vice President, R&D & Operations, Redmond
Status: Regular, Full-time, Exempt

Pay Range:

Exact compensation will be determined depending upon experience.

Range:  $94,000 – $115,000

Position Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the supplier coordination on major projects as part of an overall business plan.
  • Provides leadership and mentoring to others in the department
  • Provides counsel and advice to other leaders within the organization.
  • Identify sources, negotiate, and procure raw materials, second operations, and services as required to support production plans.
  • Negotiate cost reductions and schedule fluctuations with suppliers in support of changing forecast demands, managing and updating all existing purchase orders.
  • Purchasing, order placement and tracking function for company requirements.
  • Cost accounting for all purchased items. Review Purchase Price variances with Sr. Accounting, updating standard costs as required.
  • Supplier Evaluation Team member, supporting cross-functional efforts with Supplier Quality Management to select, review and evaluate suppliers. Manage supplier partnerships in order to achieve quality, delivery and cost objectives.
  • Coordinate supplier quality issues and notifications of non-conforming material with suppliers, processing required RMA’s & RTV’s.
  • Production planning, and execution of the production plan
  • Preform work order kitting and component stock transfers as needed to support production work order release.
  • Suggest and implement solutions to material availability and scheduling challenges resulting from unplanned problems such as parts shortages, and or supplier problems.
  • Drive the effort to support production build schedules with Manufacturing and other supporting departments.
  • Supply Chain representative of MRB review team, along with Quality and Sustaining Engineering. Approver for all component NCR’s.
  • Work with Agile coordinator to ensure accurate BOM entry into ERP system
  • Monitor, review, and update component Change Notices for BOM effectivity accuracy.
  • Manage, implement, and update production deviations for required work order releases.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by manager
Position Qualifications:
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Purchasing, materials planning and inventory control functions experience
  • Ten or more years relevant medical industry experience (purchasing/planning/scheduling)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven supplier development and interface experience
  • Ability to communicate purchasing and delivery schedule information in verbal and written form
  • Experience with MRP systems
  • Previous experience in a “start-up” work environment preferred
